JENNY LANGNESS

GRANT WRITER & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Jenny Langness has spent over 30 years in leadership roles in both the for-profit and non-profit arenas. As a business development expert, Jenny has helped business owners achieve success through individualized coaching focused on helping business owners focus on the right things and teaching their teams to deliver their best results. On average, she has been able to improve businesses profits by 25% in as little as 6 months of coaching.

In the non-profit world, Jenny has gained the reputation as a “Change Agent” increasing awareness, funding, market share, and impact for the many agencies she has led and coached. “The key to success in the for-profit & non-profit world is to find people with passion – but passion only gets you so far – you also need people that have the ability to deliver results”.

Jenny is a graduate of the Christian Leadership Alliance’s Resource Development Module (formally The Engstrom Institutes’ Steward Leader Course). She has been raising money since she was a child, starting with selling cookies for the Girl Scouts. She believes all non-profits should have a healthy combination of funding: one-time gifts, monthly donors, grant funding, gifts-in-kind and endowment dividends. Jenny has experience and a successful track record improving revenue in all areas.

40+ YEARS
COMBINED EXPERIENCE

I’ve been on the board of the Colorado Model Railroad Museum board for four years as the VP and President for the past two. In that time, we’ve struggled to take the initial, elementary steps to even plan an effort to develop investor support to operate, endow or expand our museum. It was very frustrating! We spent a substantial some (for us) last year for a non-profit consultant who....after several months of interviewing our board and staff....told us what we told him. A frustrating, fruitless “effort”. From the moment we learned that Michael might be interested in helping us and after our initial discussion, things started to change significantly...to take shape and focus. In a couple of months, he gave us concepts, objectives and methods for how to proceed. His next step (as I perceived) was to demonstrate and coach methods for how to begin execute the plan. But, this is a LOT more than him coaching us on how to do this. He listens critically and understands not just what we think; but, understands our sense of commitment behind our intent. He understands that we need to do this with confidence and conviction....we had NONE of that, and we still very need his help. What we need, is NOT available in the broader non-profit fund raising “market space”! It can only be provided by someone with THAT skill, AND a conviction that our enterprise is deeply worthy. Michael is that person! I warmly welcome a discussion with any potential client! - Tim McMahon, CMRM Board President
